Aeronautical Telecommunication Service
Responsibilities
The Aeronautical Telecommunications Services Section is delegated with the responsibility
for the operation and maintenance for the aeronautical telecommunications and electronics
aspects of Radio navigational Aids, Communications, air Traffic Control and Meteorological
System, Processor, Security Checks and Terminal Building equipment and to ensure
the continuous operation of equipment and facilities considered vital, directly or
indirectly, to the over all operations of Brunei International Airport.
This section also has the responsibility for the coordinating all arrangements with
respect to all electronics equipment and spare parts procurement by the Department
of Civil Aviation, and for the supervision and monitoring of the maintenance activities
at Brunei International Airport. In addition, the Aeronautical Telecommunication
Services Section is also responsible for all arrangements and coordination actions
with respect to the periodic flight checking of the airport navigation, and
approach and landing aids to ensure strict adherence with the international standards
and recommendations as set forth in the relevant Annexes to the Convention on International
Civil Aviation.
Organisation Structure
Aeronautical Telecommunications Services Section is sub-divided into various sub-sections
(technical) such as;
This section is headed by Chief Aeronautical Telecommunication Officer and assisted
by Aeronautical Telecommunication Engineers as sub-section head and supported by
highly trained technicians.
On 31 st December 1996, the total number of staff serving in this section was around
64 while on the same date 1997 there were a total number of 62 personnel (including
electricians / storekeepers / clerks).
In order to discharge the above tasks and enhance the responsibilities effectively
