CNS/ATM Systems Will Improve Air Navigation

Bandar Seri Begawan, 30th August 2014 - The contract signing ceremony for the Implementation of Global Air Navigation Plan for Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management System (CNS/ATM) and Associated Services for the Department of Civil Aviation, Brunei Darussalam between the Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Thales was held this morning at the Business Centre, The Empire Hotel and Country Club, Jerudong.

The Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, the Minister of Communications. Signing on behalf of His Majesty’s Government was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof and the Acting Director of Civil Aviation, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Abdul Karim bin Haji Wahab as witness. Meanwhile signing on behalf of Thales Australia Limited was the Topsky ATM Program Director, Mr Vitas Rernglertpricha and Haris Dato Hamid and Mr Roy David from ESC Engineering Sdn Bhd as witness.

The Department of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Communications, with the assistance of the consultants and the consortium contractors, Thales Australia Limited / ESC Engineering Sdn Bhd, will implement the Global Air Navigation Plan for CNS/ATM system/infrastructure, to be used by Air Traffic Services, which will be sustainable until the year 2025.
